Blue Iris Pond

Blue Iris Pond

After a hard week’s work and with a fabulous sunshine weekend in Noordhoek, South Africa, this idyllic blue iris pond was just the right place to take some time to relax and enjoy the beauty of this spectacular South African flower.

Blue Iris Pond

A blue iris is just another of Nature’s incredible creations; here the pond was literally lined with them! Give me a camera and there is no time anymore, especially not in view of such beauty… and the knowledge that they only last a few days!

The Iris takes its name from the Greek word “rainbow” as there are so many color varieties between the different species.

Time for Food

A beautiful spring day in my garden in Noordhoek, South Africa, showed me that it’s Time for Food about everywhere! It’s a real feast and the little monkey beetles above are heavily attracted to anything yellow. They dive in and get drunk. While that’s not their end… it’s unfortunately the end of the flower… and they can invade in masses. But then there are other flowers and c’est la vie!
