Ycademy Seminar January 2014

The Ycademy Seminar January 2014 took place this past weekend, fully online as always over the past years.

Ycademy Seminar January 2014

The main highlights on the agenda of the Ycademy Seminar January 2014 were tools that help us website developers and designers with the creation, post-editing and refinement of  media design – be it digital photography, web graphics or videos. As the quality of media has improved significantly across the Internet over the past few years – based on the general evolution of technology but largely also due to the impact of the mobile web and the amazing resolution on mobile devices – it is important to know one’s tools and to remain as up-to-date as possible.

Camtasia 8.2.1

Hence, a main focus was the latest release of  Camtasia 8.2.1 which I personally like and use frequently, especially to get good and fast results that are easily loaded to YouTube or converted into any format one needs, like also simple mp3’s if only audios are required. I jumped into the air when Camtasia added more video tracks in the previous version, and now they really surprise us with a tool that takes out the background – so we could record ourselves in the picture while showing the actual movie in the background!  Brilliant! I still have a lot of work to do in the near future and am looking forward to using Camtasia!

Photoshop CC 14.2

Adobe offered all users – old and new – a 30 day trial version of Photoshop CC14.2 – quite an effort for all those with slow lines to download the almost 2 Gigabyte software! They have now come up with quite some amazing new features, be it the Warp Tool, to help in amazing ways with architectural photos – as long as one has one’s perspectives right :) – ; enhanced Camera Raw; and shake reduction improvements. There are also scripted patterns and fills to create backdrops, trees and – to put it gently – : the worst picture frames I’ve ever seen! Maybe I missed something, but I thought I was somewhere else, certainly not in ADOBE with its usual brilliance.

As always, it comes down to using the tool and practising with it – this new year will certainly provide ample opportunities for doing exactly that!

To have a direct look at all the new features, you may want to check it out HERE!

Piu Piu of Noordhoek

Piu Piu of Noordhoek

The 20th January was the last day Piu Piu of Noordhoek watched the glorious sunset together with me – this is his last photo! Piu Piu never understood why I did not lift up into the air together with him and fly those beautiful rounds above the valley, far out across the wetlands, the ocean and the mountains… I had taught him how to run, spread wings and fly… and then I never got up above the ground myself! What a fake goose – duhh!

Piu Piu of Noordhoek

He had become a very strong and courageous goose. Besides, it was clear that his hormones had kicked in; he kept listening to voices from deep down in the valley, where the other geese met before leaving for lusher grounds as here the sun had licked up every drop in the dam and the little Piu Piu Pond was fun to dive in but nothing compared with the water and reeds he had experienced so abundantly in the dam.

And yes, there was that aggressive single female goose that came after him; I could not really decypher her intentions. Perhaps geese ladies have to be bad-tempered to be cool following goose etiquette. I don’t know.

What I do know is that on the morning of the 21st of January such a ‘rendez-vous’ took place on the lawn and since then he disappeared. We had hoped he’d return perhaps at night to cuddle his ‘cow’, but no. Oh, he would sure be back in the morning for his early treats… but no. Clear enough, someone or something else has taken over – and despite the pain this truly caused, we hope he’s finally where a wild Egyptian goose belongs, happy and enjoying the thrill of life. We were blessed to experience his first few months, of which I have documented each day. There is a whole story waiting to be edited to go up on YouTube – one day.

Of course, nothing would make me happier than seeing him visiting one day… and who knows? This may well happen!

Have a wonderful Piu Piu Day!

PS: Meanwhile, the novel “Piu Piu of Noordhoek” is complete and being revised! Watch for updates!

Happy Birthday Piu Piu : now I am proudly two months old!

Piu Piu of Noordhoek - Day 40

Piu Piu of Noordhoek – Two Months old

As you see, my feathers have developed perfectly and my once thin and rather wobbly legs are now strong and supporting me well! I still eat a lot of  ‘rabbit pellets’ and I also prefer to sleep inside, on my blue pullover from Chelsea and with my little cow, but once the terrace door is opened early in the morning, I just take off and fly! Sometimes I fly far off into the valley and do a really big round, or I just zoom off to my pond! I sooo much love it! I have taken full possession of it now! I chase away any intruders – be it the hadedas – sometimes five at a time! – or whoever I did not invite! Of course, MadMax is always my friend, we so much enjoy each other’s company! And the lovely dragon flies are always around…

The only thing that really gave me a scare was the big black eagle… he was clearly coming after me and was already very low and I ran as fast as I could – but my ‘angel in boots’ came at the right time – PHEW! That was a narrow escape!

Yesterday, we worked in the berry garden, tending to the blueberries and black berries. When the thought came up to open the tap to water them, I just flew up to the tap and waited, until my ‘angel in boots’ came all the way walking up! I wish I could carry her on my wings, that would be far easier than all the schlepp on the ground!

Perhaps I continue growing… and one day I will!

Have a spectacular Piu Piu Sunday!

Happy New Year 2014

Happy New Year 2014

We at “Web Design with Passion” are wishing you all a Happy New Year 2014 – filled with Abundance on all levels!

Piu Piu of Noordhoek

Happy New Year 2014

Piu Piu of Noordhoek also wishes a Happy New Year 2014 – and as you can see on the picture, he’s making his first flight attempts… yes, lifting completely off the ground and tasting the freedom in the air… and this before he’s turned even 2 months old! Nature is miraculous and amazing… and there’s so much to learn from it!

2014 will be the Year of Reinvention – I like that! So off we go… and who knows, we may just suddenly meet someone we’ve always known ?!
